WIPO organizes 2023 Global Awards competition for small and medium enterprises
Recently, WIPO organized the 2023 Global Awards competition for small and medium-sized enterprises to honor small and medium-sized enterprises that stand out in innovation using intellectual property as a basis.
WIPO Global Awards
Held for the first time in 2022, the WIPO Global Awards honor outstanding businesses and individuals who are intelligently using intellectual property to commercialize and contribute positively for society through its innovation and creativity.
Last year, the Global Awards 2022 was honored to name 5 award-winning businesses.
This annual competition is for small and medium-sized businesses with a primary focus on the corporate world. However, the Organizing Committee has planned to expand the winners to women and young people in the future.
2023 Global Awards
WIPO Global Awards 2023 focuses on outstanding SME businesses doing business in the creative industries, local and international brands, innovative technology providers.
This year, the 2023 Global Awards will award up to 7 outstanding businesses selected from 20 nominated businesses. The award selection factors will be carefully considered by an independent jury, including the commercialization of intellectual property, the diversity of businesses and contributions to society.
The 2023 Global Prize includes a 1:1 mentoring package from WIPO. WIPO’s intellectual property experts will assist award winners in designing an intellectual property strategy appropriate to their growth. In addition to legal advice and planning, the award also includes practical financial support for the winning businesses.
The winners will be presented at a ceremony at WIPO headquarters in Geneva before the WIPO General Assembly in July 2023.
WIPO CEO Daren Tang said: “WIPO’s 2023 Global Awards Program recognizes businesses and individuals who bring to market great new products and services, create jobs, support communities to improve our world. Our hope is that by recognizing the intellectual property-focused achievements of SMEs, we will encourage more businesses and entrepreneurs to use IP strategically in bring their ideas to market.”
