Trademark registration fee in Vietnam

Trademark registration in Vietnam is a procedure to protect exclusively the product / service name of an individual or organization. So whether this procedure costs a lot or not? This article will provide information on the fee of trademark registration in Vietnam in accordance with regulations of  the country.

Definition of trademark registration

Trademark registration is an administrative procedure carried out by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam in the form of recording trademarks and owners in national registers of marks and granting certificates of trademark registration to Owner.

Once certified, the applicant will be the sole owner of the mark for the time required by law.

Fee of trademark registration

When conducting the trademark registration procedure in Vietnam, the applicant will have to pay fees in 2 periods:

– When filing a trademark registration application

– When being granted a Trademark Registration Certificate (if the mark meets the protection standards).

a) Application period

When filing a trademark application, the applicant will be charged the following fees:

– Application fee: 150,000 VND

– Application publication fee: 120,000VND

– Search fee for evaluating the content of mark: 180,000 VND / 01 group of products and services

– Fee for substantive examination of mark registration application: VND 550,000 / 01 group of products and services.

Note: In case the owner registers more than 06 products or services, the following fees will be incurred:

– Search fee for products, services from 7 onwards: 30,000 VND / 01 product or service

– Content evaluation fee for products / services from 7 onwards: VND 120,000 / 01 product or service.

b) Certificate period

In case the trademark meets the criteria of protection, the applicant will need to pay the following fees to obtain the title:

  • Certification fee: 120,000 VND;
  • Registration fee: 120,000 VND;
  • Trademark certificate publication fee: VND 120,000.

Note: In case the owner registers a trademark for more than 01 product / service group, the following additional fees will be incurred:

  • Certification fee for each additional product / service group: 100,000 VND;
