Leading India IP firm secures many well-known trademark registration
Noida-based law firm Anand and Anand achieved a significant milestone by securing well-known status for 11 trademarks belonging to various prominent Indian and international companies, all on the same day.
These trademarks, now listed in the Trade Marks Registry’s register of well-known marks, include ‘Abbott’ from the US-based pharmaceutical giant Abbott Laboratories, ‘Nykaa’ from the e-commerce platform, and ‘Jockey’ from the comfort apparel manufacturer Jockey International.
The list also features marks from the Tata Group, such as the Tata Logo, ‘Vivanta’ from the Indian Hotels Company, ‘Titan’ from Titan Company Limited, and ‘Tanishq’, the Tata-owned jewelry brand. Japanese multinational Bridgestone Corporation’s mark ‘Bridgestone’ was also recognized as well-known. Additionally, the Indian brand ‘Fortune’, belonging to Adani Wilmar Limited, was included in the register.
“A well-known trademark signifies a blend of fame, legal enforceability, exclusivity, and the potential to leverage the brand’s high level of recognition, which collectively enhances its status,” said Safir Anand, senior partner and head of trademarks, contractual, and commercial IP at the firm. “Obtaining a well-known trademark declaration is prestigious for a company as it involves stringent scrutiny of evidence on the Trademarks Register.”
