Young Experts Program: Growing Future Global IP Leaders

The goal of WIPO’s Young Experts Program is to develop the next round of intellectual property leaders. The WIPO-organized two-year program is intended to acquaint young individuals with high potential, particularly those from poor and least-developed countries as well as nations. With a focus on on-the-job learning and exposure to various fields, areas of focus, and colleagues, YEP selections will benefit from a comprehensive and extensive WIPO work experience. Additionally, YEP will offer frequent chances for networking with WIPO’s senior and senior leadership.

Benefits of joining WIPO’s Young Expert Program

Unique on-the-job learning

The applicant will gain knowledge of intellectual property (IP) as well as the role that WIPO plays in fostering innovation and creativity for the good of all. The curriculum is a blended learning approach that combines classroom instruction with opportunities for academic preparation through the WIPO Academy.

Mentoring and guidance

The applicant will be given mentors as part of the program who can assist them to advance their careers and sharpen their management and administrative skills. On intriguing and significant projects that will push and develop them, the participant will be introduced to them right away.

International network

The applicant will frequently have networking opportunities with senior and top WIPO leaders as a member of the YEP community. After completing their program, they will join a dynamic network of future leaders in the field of intellectual property, helping to shape the global IP ecosystem.

Work on pressing challenges

With the use of IP, innovation, and creativity, YEP experts will work on important and significant projects and assignments that solve pressing global issues like climate change.

Global community

YEP selectees will be welcomed from all over the world, given the chance to learn from one another, and placed in a multinational organization with a workforce made up of individuals from more than 120 different nations. The applicant will extend their horizons and enhance their professional perspective as a Youth Expert.

Professional experience

YEP participants will observe diplomacy and mutualism firsthand while learning how to resolve conflicts and advance consensus. The young professionals will serve as part of the WIPO secretariat to support Member State delegates in their discussions regarding improving the international IP system by providing data, rigorous analysis, and other support.
