Huawei – the leading company on patent inventors
For many years, Huawei has held the most numbers in counts of the innovative patents in various files including 5G, 6G, automotive, smartphones, etc.
On the other hand, Huawei also ranked first in the list of R&D investments that is further followed by Alibaba in second and Tencent in third place. As the report describes, the entry threshold is a 237 million Yuan investment.
In addition, Huawei intends to keep this position by continuing to explore more fields and gathering resources to bring breakthroughs in its business limits in the future.
Specifically, Huawei has recently established four new divisions which are Customs and Port Corps, Smart Highway Corps, Data Center Energy Corps, and Smart Photovoltaic Corps with Mr. Xun Su, Ma Yue, Yang Yougui, and Chen Guoguang as their CEO respectively.
Aaron Wininger, Director of the China IP Practice, Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner P.A. stated about the empire of Huawei: “Huawei may start following the Qualcomm model and further increase their licensing revenue. This may be especially true in jurisdictions where they are unable to sell their gear as this may be the only way for them to generate revenue in those jurisdictions. For example, Huawei recently settled a U.S. patent lawsuit against Verizon for confidential terms. Huawei released figures showing patent royalty income of $600 million in Q1 2021. Huawei also announced royalty rates for 5G patents earlier this year.”
